The Pro Tools development group is currently seeking an audio software engineering candidate at Avid's Daly City, California location. Pro Tools is Avid's flagship audio editing system and is used the world over for audio recording, composing, editing, and mixing.

As a member of the Pro Tools Development team, you will begin be working closely with senior engineers to develop and enhance Avid's new AAX (Avid Audio eXtension) plug-in platform, including new audio plug-in work and enhancing the existing AAX plug-in SDK. As you implement new features and capabilities in Pro Tools you will have the opportunity to develop at many different levels within the application, from the user interface to the audio engine.

This job provides excellent growth opportunities, offering the chance to contribute to a wide variety of projects and learn the Pro Tools code base while working with highly experienced members of the Avid engineering staff. The best candidate for this position will have a strong technical background and a desire to work on world-class audio software in a collaborative team environment.

Essential requirements:基本要求

Ability to debug problems in a large C++ code base
Ability to debug problems on embedded platforms

To this end, our applied research group is engaged in a highly interactive hands-on approach, where physical embodiments of our research serve as a platform for experimentation and demonstration to product division stakeholders.

As a senior/specialist acoustic system research engineer you will be on the front line of innovative research that will set the stage for our future products and underlying technologies. Ideally, you are passionate about audio engineering and have a solid working understanding of acoustics and/or signal processing. You have experience in product development organization with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience. You are a highly motivated individual with good analytical capability, excellent hands-on skills, and someone who enjoys working in a team environment.

Candidates should possess a high level of energy and drive to work independently and interactively with other research engineers on challenging engineering problems. The ability to break down complex problems into simple investigations and experiments is fundamental. Excellent verbal & written communication skills are required. Strong knowledge of the audio transducer and/or signal processing application industry is preferable.

Additional Desirable Skills:附加所需技能

•Experience with computer based acoustic measurement systems (MLSSA, Smaart, Audio Precision, Listen Inc.,etc.).
•Experience with tuning signal processing for audio reproduction and/or capture (recording or reinforcement).
•Knowledge of basic psychoacoustics
•Experience with acoustic computer modeling tools (e.g. Pspice, EASE, LEAP, FEA, etc.)
•Critical listening skills, experience with formal listening experiments
•Matlab and/or advanced programming experience
•Active musician and/or recording engineer

B.Sc. in electrical engineering or related field is required. M.Sc. or Ph.D. preferred
